The Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshine blogger award bellandberries

To be honest, we had never even heard of this award during my short time of blogging so far. We have the pleasure (and surprise) of being nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award.

It’s an award where all of the nominees are peer-nominated for promoting positivity, creativity, and friendship in the blogging world. It hasn’t been that long since we started this blog.

Even though it’s small, we meet a lot of nice people online thanks to it (thanks Twitter).

We’d like to thank Lisa at Counting Stars, a lifestyle blog where she talks about so many things she’s grateful for in her life.

Kind of like a journal, but a better read. 😊

Here’s how the award works:

  1. First, we thank our nominator. (Duh.)
  2. Answer the 11 questions Lisa (or the nominating blogger) gave us and then make 11 more for our 11 nominees to answer.
  3. List our 11 nominees.
  4. And list the rules for the nominees to follow and put the award’s logo somewhere on your post.

Pretty simple, right? Now onto the questions.

1. What are you most grateful for?

Bell: My mom. Without her, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. This isn’t the first and won’t be the last time I say this, but I really owe her a ton.

Berry: I’m most grateful for my immediate family members. They have genuinely always been supportive of me by encouraging me and giving me the best advice they could give. Without them, I wouldn’t have accomplished everything I have accomplished to this day.

2. What is your favorite childhood memory?

Bell: My first family trip to Six Flags with my family when I was 4. It’s one of the few moments I can look back to and say that I had no cares in the world. Just me and my family.

Berry: My favorite childhood memory is the time I went to Mexico with my parents to visit family because I  was able to experience what it felt like to be in a new and more open environment from the one I was accustomed to here. That and the fact that I knew I didn’t have to go to school for about a month and a half. Life as a kid was great on trips like those.

3. If you could invite someone famous to dinner who would you invite and why?

Bell: Seeing as famous is a very subjective word, my choice is a bit weird. Sorelle Amore. Beautiful name, right? She is a YouTuber full of positivity and a great photographer to boot. I love her energy and would love to have dinner with her.

Berry: This is gonna be more than one person since it’s a band, but I would invite BTS for dinner because I believe that they’re very humble despite their fame. They stay true to themselves and to their music. I love the fact that they focus on trying to help others through their music. They’re 7 amazing guys that I would love to get to know and learn from.

4.  If you could only eat one thing every day from today onwards what would it be?

Bell: Okra. Raw or cooked. But it would have to be okra. I love it so much that everyone I know is a little weirded out about how much I like the vegetable.

Berry: Pasta with Alfredo sauce, shrimp, broccoli, and carrots.

5. Who is your favorite singer and why?

Bell: I’m not good with these types of questions since I have a very eclectic style. In classic weeb fashion, it’d be a toss up between Hikaru Utada and Kanon Wakeshima.

Berry: My favorite “singer” is BTS since about 2 and half years ago as you might have guessed from the question number 3. I really love what they stand for.

6. Why did you start writing a blog?

Bell: To make money, lol. Seriously. But as I started the actual process, it became more about finding people like us that just wanted to connect and confide with others. But I still want to make some money to help my mom.

Berry: I started this blog on a suggestion from Bell. I never even considered starting a blog in my life, but when she asked if I would start one with her, I thought it would be a good idea for me do something new and possibly put myself out there.

7. Who is the most influential person in your life?

Bell: My mom without a doubt. As the child of a single mother who is an immigrant, it’s hard watching her struggle to do the simplest things in life just because of how she sounds or her life choices. I could never imagine going through life like that in a new country by myself. And yet, she did it. I’m so proud of her and owe her everything.

Berry: The most influential person in my life is my mom. Growing up, she has given me a perfect example of how I want to be in life. Similar to Bell’s mom, my mom is also an immigrant. She is the most hardworking, loving, and humble person in my life. Even though she has gotten most of what she has worked for, she has always had a mindset of sharing what she has with those that are in need. It’s something I really admire about her because although she struggled a lot since childhood, she didn’t let it affect her negatively and has only taken the positives out of those situations.

8. What is your best attribute?

Bell: People keep saying my smile. I honestly don’t believe them. I think it’s my positivity (read as naivete).

Berry: I think my best attribute is that I’m very helpful towards people. If I know I can help someone that needs it, I’ll do it without thinking twice about it.

9. What is your favorite pizza topping?

Bell: Mozzarella Cheese. That is all.

Berry: Pepperoni.

10. What movie or book changed your life or way of thinking?

Bell: American Girls series. They pretty much inspired me to look at the details in my life and reflect on how things used to be for a girl my age. And that I can do anything my mind. Still think the dolls are creepy, though.

Berry: This isn’t your typical “book” since it’s a manga, but I have read countless books and none have accomplished what this manga has done for me. It’s Naruto. This manga has been a big part of my life since I was a middle school teenager because it constantly reminded that despite the hardships someone might have in their life, they have to keep going and never give up. It honestly motivated me to continue whenever I felt down.

11. If you could be anyone for a day who would you be?

Bell:  This is probably stretching the question, but I’m going to pick a fictional character. Serena (Sailor Moon) from Sailor Moon. While Mercury is most like me from a personality standpoint, I always looked up to Sailor Moon. Sure, I’d have to save the city while being her but that would still be super awesome to try.

Berry: I’m sorry to say that I don’t know who I would want to be for a day if I were given the chance.
